The CIV – Consorzio Italiano Vivaisti Scarl of San Giuseppe di Comacchio (FE) is present from 03 to 05 May with its own stand within the common space of the participants in the CIVI-Italy Supply Chain Project at the ” the International Show of Nursery and Varietal Innovation” – new exhibition area entirely dedicated to nursery and innovation – during the 40th Edition of the MACFRUT 2023 Fair in Rimini.

“At this appointment – says the CIV President, Mauro Grossi – the CIV will have the opportunity not only to present the latest innovations in strawberries and apples to the main operators in the sector but above all to meet our international Licensees/Partners with whom we have strategic-operational collaborations.”

On Thursday, May 04th, at the conference “State of the art and future prospects in genetic improvement in the apple” the Head of Technical Area CIV Marzio Zaccarini will illustrate the main activities of research & development of apple variety of the Consortium globally. In the CIV’s Apple Research & Development Programme (from early to late varieties; red, green and/or yellow, two-coloured; eco-sustainable with low environmental impact; resistant to cobbling and with excellent long-term characteristics and excellent organoleptic quality) we remind the very recent CIVM65*/Desy apple variety, developed by the European Exclusive Licensee Rajpol Sp. Z.o.o., one of the most important Polish cooperatives. The fruit is bright red, with crunchy, juicy and sweet pulp. The plant is rustic, resistant and easy to manage agronomically, a true promise of apple growing.

On Friday, May 05th, the conference “State of the art and future prospects in genetic improvement in strawberry” the breeders CIV Michelangelo Leis and Jacopo Diamanti will present the uniqueness of the CIV experience of 40 years in the selection of varieties of strawberries that can provide high quality fruits that can be grown with low energy requirements, low labor cost and low environmental impact. The Consortium proposes in fact an extremely articulated and complete strawberry Portfolio to be able to better meet the needs both of growers of different geographical areas according to the production system (cultivation in open field, in greenhouses, hydroponics, etc.) both distribution and final consumers globally.

“The event in Rimini – concludes the president of the Consortium, Mauro Grossi – is for us also an important novelty being in fact the first fair with a common space of the participants in the CIVI-Italy Supply Chain Project, only Italian interprofessional body that has been working for over 30 years for the qualification of national nursery production and that associates 95% of the organized nursery of fruit and vine plants, in addition to the national unions of fruit and vegetable producers.”
